Oatmeal used to be one of those “healthy” foods we forced ourselves to eat—especially if you grew up during the low-fat craze of the 90s. Remember those instant packets? We tried to convince ourselves they were good for us, but let’s be honest… they were bland, unsatisfying, and anything but nourishing. For years, I avoided oatmeal altogether.

That all changed when I started cooking with whole, real foods—the kind that actually nourish your body and satisfy your cravings. Enter this creamy maple cinnamon oatmeal: made with sprouted oats, milk, collagen, cinnamon, butter, vanilla, and just enough pure maple syrup to bring it all together. It’s rich, warm, and comforting—but still light enough to enjoy year-round.

Whether you’re looking for a cozy bowl on a chilly morning or a simple, wholesome breakfast to prep ahead for busy weekdays, this maple oatmeal has you covered. It’s family-friendly, nutrient-rich, and made 100% from scratch—the way oatmeal should be.

What you’ll love about this Maple Cinnamon Oatmeal:

  • KID FRIENDLY – Kids and grown-ups alike love this oatmeal!
  • HEALTHY – Uses whole real food ingredients and is naturally sweetened (no refined sugar) and has a great protein boost with the added collagen (optional).
  • CREAMY & DELICIOUS – The added milk and butter help make this oatmeal creamy, nourishing and delicious!

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Oats – Use sprouted oats (see below for all the benefits) for the most nutrient dense and tasty option. This is my favorite brand
  • Milk + Water – For creaminess without being too thick
  • Maple Syrup – The star sweetener; use pure maple syrup
  • Butter & Vanilla – Adds richness and cozy flavor
  • Cinnamon & Salt – Balances the sweetness, and I love all of the health benefits of cinnamon too
  • Collagen (optional) – Adds protein without changing the texture. This is the brand I use.

Why Sprouted Oats?

  • Increased Nutrient Availability – Sprouted Oats have a reduced amount of phytic acid, which can interfere with the absorption of some minerals like iron, zinc, and calcium.
  • Improved Digestibility – Sprouting breaks down some of the starch in oats, making them easier to digest.
  • Higher Protein Content – Sprouted Oats have a higher protein content which is a win-win for everyone.

How to Make Creamy Maple Oatmeal

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium pot – I use a 3 quart stainless steel one. I love this one…and yes, it is pricey – but guaranteed for life and the stainless steel is non-toxic.
  • Cook on medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
  • Reduce to low and simmer for another 15 minutes until thickened to your liking
  • Serve Immediately

Tips for Success

  • Don’t skip the salt—it enhances flavor
  • Want it thicker? Let it sit for a few minutes before serving
  • Stir in extras like chopped nuts, raisins, mixed berries, peaches or apples
  • Store in fridge up to 4 days and reheat on the stove with a splash of milk

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve warm with an extra drizzle of maple syrup and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
  • Add some extra milk if you prefer it a little thinner.
  • Top or mix in nuts, raisins, mixed berries, bananas, peaches or apples.
  • Pair with a side of scrambled eggs or these Bacon, Egg and Cheese Muffins for a balanced breakfast.
