Homemade parmesan meatballs are a weeknight staple in our house, they are so versatile, juicy, and packed with protein. My kids love them, I love them, and they can be used in so many ways. With simple ingredients these are a perfect addition to spaghetti, you can chop them up and throw them on a pizza, use as a main dish or take as an appetizer for your next gathering.
Why You’ll Love These Homemade Parmesan Meatballs
The combination of parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, and other seasonings creates a flavorful dish that is so simple but packed with flavor. They are easy and convenient, there is no chopping of herbs and no added breadcrumbs – making them gluten free. I love to get my kids involved by helping measure out the herbs, cracking the eggs, mixing the ingredients and shaping them into balls.

Ingredients
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
Handy tip: Prepare Ahead!
Double or triple this recipe so you have leftovers for a quick weeknight meal! My favorite way to use leftover meatballs is by making meatball pizza, or throwing them in some marinara sauce for a quick and easy spaghetti. Homemade parmesan meatballs freeze beautifully too!
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs.
- Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Tips for the Perfect Homemade Parmesan Meatballs
- Use high-quality ground beef. I personally use organic grass fed beef.
- Shred your parmesan cheese yourself, bags of pre-shredded cheese have an anti-caking additive in them. I use THIS or THIS to grate mine.
- Don’t over mix the ingredients to keep the meatballs tender.
- Line your pan with parchment paper, or my favorite, use a stone pan so they won’t stick. STONE PAN
- Watch the meatballs so they don’t overcook as they won’t be as juicy. I found 20 minutes to be perfect.
Serving Suggestions
Homemade parmesan meatballs pair well with BBQ sauce, marinara sauce, spaghetti, or a side salad. My son typically eats them with ketchup too. They can be served as an appetizer, in a sub roll for meatball sandwiches, on a pizza, etc.
Feel free to make them large or small depending on your preference. Just watch the bake time as it will need to be adjusted depending on the size.
